AVC Year 11 Drama students chose Cinderella as their first official GCSE performance.
They tweaked an original script to make it an up-to-date and individual pantomime, incorporating scenes from TV shows such as DIY SOS, Strictly Come Dancing and Crimewatch.
Students voted who should play which roles, while others worked back stage, on lighting and sound, as well as helping with costumes.
The students cleverly used projected images for their scenery and performed on lower staging.
Near the end of the pantomime the students invited audience participation, they engaged the audience by using them in a police line-up, and had a competition between each side of the audience to decide who could dance and sing ‘The Time Warp’the best.
Drama student Callum Mead said, “I really enjoyed being part of the show and I’m glad I got to do an upbeat piece.”
The Year 11 Drama teacher, Mr Kilminster said everyone had worked very hard. “I am very proud of how the students put the whole show together.”
