Football celebrations

The football team from Bulford St Leonard’s Primary School, part of Salisbury Plain Academies, is celebrating after winning a football festival recently.

The event took place at Avon Valley College, Durrington, with nine primary schools and 130 Year 3 and 4 children taking part.

The teams were split into three groups and they played a round robin competition with the top teams and highest loser progressing to the semi-finals.

“The Year 9 sports leaders from Avon Valley College took on all the roles of scoring, timing, officiating, result tables and photography. They did a fantastic job on the day,” said Collette Harries, PE teacher from AVC who organised the event.

The Bulford St Leonard’s team: Aviane Miti, Max Wadham, Oliver McWhinney, Courtney Naylor, Taylor Cansfield, Callum Milligan, Nana Brown, Chloe Liddle and Jake Walker, took on Larkhill first, winning 3-0.

They went on to win all their matches and take home the medals.

“This is the best day ever,” said Aviane.

Jemma Dicks, Bulford St Leonard’s PE subject leader, said: “The children were great representatives of Bulford School. They were a huge delight to watch and coach throughout the festival and were much deserved winners! They worked so well as a team and showed huge gratitude towards the referees and opposing players.”
