Bath Uni 'touchdown' at Bulford

Pupils from Bulford St Leonard’s Primary school, part of Salisbury Plain Academies, met some members of the Bath Spa University’s American football and cheerleading team recently.

They visited the school as part of the Year 6 topic on North America.

Pupils had the opportunity to watch part of a game and then tried tackling and throwing an American football.

"We don't normally do stuff like this,” said pupil Evan Bradford. “What a great opportunity!"

The children also had the chance to have a go at cheerleading and putting a routine together.

“It was really, really fun,” said William McCluskey.

His fellow Year 6 pupil Kai Holmes said: “I felt so inspired after taking part. I didn't want to go to University before but now I have learnt they have these different societies I really want to go.”

The pupils also took part in a competition to guess the Quarterback’s shirt number. Colette Van Zyl and Sommer-Lee Playford guessed right and won an American football each.
